NEWS RELEASE: FDA Approval of Generic Abortion Drug “Jarring and Contradictory,” Says Bishop Thomas - October 7, 2025

WASHINGTON – “It is jarring and contradictory that, at the same time that the Food and Drug Administration is conducting a much-needed review of the supposed safety of the abortion pill for women, it is nonetheless approving a new generic for this deadly drug,” said Bishop Daniel E. BREATHE Respite Event

"BREATHE is a respite care service for parents/guardians of a child with a special need to give them a break from caregiving. Virtus trained Adult, college and high school volunteers are needed to be a “buddy” to a person with a disability. Volunteers needed - please share!

Archbishop Naumann receives NRLC’s “Proudly Pro-Life Award”

At the closing Gala of the 54th Annual National Right to Life Conference, NRLC was proud and honored to bestow its “Proudly Pro-Life Award” to Archbishop Joseph Naumann, “the strong yet gentle Lion of the Pro-Life Movement.” National Right to Life’s Board of Directors unanimously passed a “Resolution Honoring the Life and Ministry of Archbishop Emeritus Joseph F. Walking with Moms in Need Ministry Update

Walking with Moms in Need – Regional Leadership Conversations

A small group of Walking with Moms in Need (WWMIN) parish leaders from across the region has begun meeting to share experiences, best practices, and creative ideas to strengthen this important ministry. These gatherings provide an opportunity for mutual support, troubleshooting challenges, and exploring ways to grow WWMIN outreach within our parishes and communities.

So far, the group has met a couple of times and plans to continue meeting on a quarterly basis. If you are currently involved in a Walking with Moms in Need ministry—or are interested in starting one at your parish—we invite you to join the conversation!

Walking With Moms in Need Resource conversation with CCNEK & PRCs

A group of Walking With Moms and Embrace Grace parish leaders recently met with representatives from Wyandotte/Olathe and Two Lines Pregnancy Centers and Catholic Charities to share ideas and resources to better serve women in need. Much fruit and insight came from this discussion! There is so much good happening that we need to share to encourage more parishes to develop or grow their WWM ministry. The Gabriel Project

We have blessed three moms with material items this month, as they prepare for the arrival of their babies. Two Lines Pregnancy Center reached out to us for an Angel to accompany a mom from Africa, who is in school, and working hard to make a life for her and her baby in America.

We also have a mom who will give birth soon, whose Angels decided to bless with a Baby Shower. They reached out to a Walking With Moms Parish to help them. This young mom is thrilled to have this attention showered on her, something she's never had before. It is a reminder that our moms need love and support to go through with the brave choice they are making. A shout-out to our awesome Angels Carrie and Judy!

Embrace Grace Support Group

Thank you to Sandra Schueler and the women of Cure of Ars for hosting a “Love Box Packing Party” to increase awareness about Embrace Grace support groups for single pregnant women in the Archdiocese.

Another party is coming up this month– Queen of the Holy Rosary O.P.

We need parishes outside of Johnson County to start EG support groups too! Contact us if you’re interested!

Host a "Love Box Packing" Party!

Local Pregnancy Resources centers are asking for more parishes to offer the Embrace Grace support group for single pregnant women. Thank you to St. John's - Lawrence, the Church of the Ascension - OP, and Holy Trinity - Lenexa for being EG parishes. The Holy Spirit is doing amazing things through this program and we'd like you to be a part of it!

Here's why Love Box Packing Parties are beneficial for program introduction:

Hands-on Engagement: These parties involve individuals in a tangible way by having them assemble Love Boxes filled with items meant to empower and encourage single, pregnant women.
Program Awareness: The process of packing and preparing these boxes provides a direct connection to the Embrace Grace program and its purpose – helping women facing unexpected pregnancies find support and choose life.
Community Building: Love Box packing parties are an excellent way to bring together friends, church groups, or coworkers for a joyful evening of service, fostering a sense of community and shared purpose.
Outreach and Recruitment: Each Love Box contains an invitation to a local Embrace Grace group, serving as a direct outreach tool for women who may benefit from the program's support.
Inspiring Life Decisions: The items in the Love Box, such as handwritten letters, journals, and baby essentials, are designed to inspire hope and encourage women to choose life.

The Culture Project

“The Culture Project is an initiative of young people set out to restore culture through the experience of virtue. We proclaim the dignity of the human person and the richness of living sexual integrity, inviting our culture to become fully alive.” – From The Culture Project website (thecultureproject.org).

So far the CP Missionaries have had 4,107 student encounters, 672 Adult encounters and have completed 85 presentations.

Thank you to all of the schools, parish religious education, youth ministry, and campus center leaders who have booked a presentation with The Culture Project Missionaries last semester. We are receiving good feedback from host parishes on the impact that The Culture Project is having with their youth.
