Prayer Warriors Needed! - KCK PP Mass & Prayer

Fr. Keith Chadwick is the new pastor at Christ the King in KCK.  He is asking for our help to pray to end the violence being done to unborn children and women at the KCK Planned Parenthood. Christ the King Parish hosts a Mass & rosary procession to PP every third Saturday of the month ( See “Ongoing Events” below for more details. Johnson County parishes, we are calling on you for help!  Each parish is being asked to take one month of the year to invite your community to join in the third Saturday prayer. See the schedule for when your parish is invited (some may call it an assignment 🙂) All are invited to pray!

The Sunday of Divine Mercy (April 12) provides an important opportunity to share Christ’s message of mercy, especially with those who have been wounded by abortion. By the age of 45, as many as 1 in 3 women have had an abortion, and a similar number of men and family members have been involved. Many inaccurately feel that abortion is “the unforgivable sin.” They need to hear that God forgives every sin of a repentant heart, even the sin of abortion. “The strong grassroots support we saw at this year’s March & Rally for Life is continuing to make an impact in Topeka, giving pro-life legislators the backing they need to stand firm this session. While these legislative updates can sound straightforward, KFL is working diligently behind the scenes to get these bills across the finish line. Here’s where things stand: House Bill 2727 and House Bill 2729 have officially passed the Senate with veto-proof majorities and are now on their way to the governor’s desk. HB 2727 strengthens enforcement of informed consent laws, making it easier for women to pursue statutory damages when critical information is withheld. HB 2729 improves the Woman’s Right to Know Act by requiring a clear, standardized informed consent form developed by the Kansas Department of Health and Environment. In addition, House Bill 2635 (the Pregnancy Care Act) was also sent to the governor last week. This bill protects pregnancy resource centers from discrimination by state or local governments simply because they choose not to perform or refer for abortions. Budget discussions are ongoing to ensure Pregnancy Resource Centers across Kansas receive $3M in funding through the Pregnancy Compassion Awareness Program. All three bills (2727, 2729, and 2635) await action from Governor Laura Kelly. She can sign them into law, allow them to take effect without her signature, or issue a veto. We expect vetoes, which means the fight is far from over. Veto session is scheduled for April 9-11.”

A brand-new poll — the Marist Poll — just came out with some heartening news. This poll, commissioned by the Knights of Columbus and performed by a trusted source for national surveys,* reported: 64% of Americans support placing legal limits on abortion; 84% support pregnancy resource centers, these centers that outnumber abortion facilities more than four to one and provide women life-affirming alternatives to abortion; 63% of Americans believe healthcare professionals should not be forced to commit abortions against their religiously held beliefs; and 88% of Americans believe that laws can protect both mother and child. Based on this data, we can confidently say that when the other side claims Americans want abortion on demand through all nine months of pregnancy for any reason, that's absurd. Most Americans want significant restrictions on abortion.

BREATHE Respite Event

 "BREATHE is a respite care service for parents/guardians of a child with a special need to give them a break from caregiving. Virtus trained Adult, college and high school volunteers are needed to be a “buddy” to a person with a disability. Volunteers needed - please share!

Solemnity of the Annunciation

The Solemnity of the Annunciation commemorates the visit of the angel Gabriel to the Virgin Mary to inform her that she was to be the mother of our Savior. It calls us to reflect on the blessing of new life and how we are to care for, protect, and welcome new life as the Blessed Mother did for the Christ child.

All expectant parents are invited for the blessing.

NOTE: This event is usually celebrated on the Solemnity of the Annunciation which is March 25th, however, sometimes a different date will be chosen.

KCK Monthly Mass & Prayer Vigil at Planned Parenthood

Christ the King Church in KCK hosts a monthly prayer opportunity to beg for the protection of the unborn and expectant women being harmed by KCK’s Planned Parenthood.

Help is needed to prayerfully end the violence being done to unborn children and women at the KCK Planned Parenthood.

Please promote this Monthly Third Saturday prayer opportunity to your parish communities and let’s show up to storm the heavens with prayer!

Moving forward we have scheduled two area parishes per month to offer an “Invitation to Pray” to your communities. Thank you for working with us to support this important, life-saving witness! Walking with Moms in Need Ministry Update

Walking With Moms in Need parish initiative celebrated its 6 year anniversary this past March 25! 

Since the launch of Walking with Moms in Need in 2020, Catholics in dioceses and parishes across the country have put the Gospel of Life into action, uniting in a shared mission to surround pregnant and parenting mothers in need with loving support and personal accompaniment.

Heroic volunteers—like YOU—have stepped forward to make our parishes places where a mother can be connected with meaningful resources and assistance and know that she and her baby are not alone.

We pray that Walking with Moms in Need will continue to become embedded in the fabric of every parish and diocese, so that any mother in need may know that she can turn to her local Catholic parish for help.

The Gabriel Project

We recently got a text from a mom who had taken the first abortion pill and was having regrets.  After texting back and forth and giving her a number to call for Abortion Pill Reversal, I did not hear back till the following afternoon.  When I checked in with her, she excitedly reported that she went in and there was still a heartbeat! They started her on the reversal process.  After checking in with her a couple weeks later, I learned that she has now been given a due date and the baby did make it!!! 
 
This method is effective about 68% of the time and it's a matter of timing e.g. how soon a woman calls after taking the first pill.  In this case the mom was well beyond that window of time, so I see her reversal as a miracle!  I attribute this to the hundreds of prayers prayed by our prayer warriors who interceded for her.

Project Rachel / Project Joseph

Lent is an amazing opportunity to share about God’s forgiveness and healing after abortion to those who may typically be away from Church. To assist in the Church’s outreach, visit here for resources to help share Christ's message of mercy and healing. Contact your diocesan abortion healing office for local contact information to place in your parish’s bulletin.
 
Project Rachel has a new Drop-In group for women who have been hurt by abortion.  It is on the first Thursday of each month from 6 - 7pm, through May.  Please contact Ann Marie Alvey at 913-621-2199 or projectrachelkc@archkck.org if you would like more information.

Embrace Grace Support Group

Holy Trinity hosted a baby shower for the six women participating in Embrace Grace on Sat, March 7

Diapers were donated by a Saint Thomas Aquinas diaper drive run by Riley Duvall parishioners donated the rest of the gifts.

Each mom received:

  • 12 registry items
  • 2 boxes of size 1, 2, 3, and 4 diapers
  • 2 boxes of wipes
  • Pack n play
  • Large containers of formula
  • And their choice of the donated items. 

We had nearly 60 people in attendance to celebrate our 6 moms!

We need parishes outside of Johnson County to start EG support groups too! Contact us if you’re interested!

Host a "Love Box Packing" Party!

Local Pregnancy Resources centers are asking for more parishes to offer the Embrace Grace support group for single pregnant women. Thank you to St. John's - Lawrence, the Church of the Ascension - OP, and Holy Trinity - Lenexa for being EG parishes.  The Holy Spirit is doing amazing things through this program and we'd like you to be a part of it!

Here's why Love Box Packing Parties are beneficial for program introduction:

  • Hands-on Engagement: These parties involve individuals in a tangible way by having them assemble Love Boxes filled with items meant to empower and encourage single, pregnant women.
  • Program Awareness: The process of packing and preparing these boxes provides a direct connection to the Embrace Grace program and its purpose – helping women facing unexpected pregnancies find support and choose life.
  • Community Building: Love Box packing parties are an excellent way to bring together friends, church groups, or coworkers for a joyful evening of service, fostering a sense of community and shared purpose.
  • Outreach and Recruitment: Each Love Box contains an invitation to a local Embrace Grace group, serving as a direct outreach tool for women who may benefit from the program's support.
  • Inspiring Life Decisions: The items in the Love Box, such as handwritten letters, journals, and baby essentials, are designed to inspire hope and encourage women to choose life.

The Culture Project

The Culture Project is a free Archdiocesan youth resource sponsored by the School, Evangelization and Pro-Life Offices that exists to restore our culture by proclaiming the dignity of the human person and living with sexual integrity.

At semester, the CP Missionaries have had 2,278 student encounters, 363 Adult encounters and have completed 73 presentations. To read their semester report, please visit www.archkck.org/prolife/activities/the-culture-project.

THRIVE Foster Care Ministry

The next Foster Adopt Ministry (FAM) Coordinators Meeting will take place on April 9 at 7:00 p.m. at Cure of Ars Catholic Church. Coordinators are encouraged to attend for updates, collaboration, and support.

There is also exciting momentum growing in Topeka, where a new Foster Adopt Ministry is currently being launched at Mother Teresa of Calcutta Catholic Church.

Fertility Awareness

The Pro-Life Office is excited about our new partnership with Molly Price APRN, FNP-C, MSN, and her new "FACTS" Fertility Appreciation Education for mothers/daughters and young women.

For mothers/daughters, she offers her "Growing Up Girl" programs for two age groups - ages 9-12 and ages 12-14: "A Christ Centered approach to teaching about God's beauty and design of the female body in an age appropriate, fun and informative way for Moms & Daughters."  Molly Price is a Family Nurse Practitioner, Certified Marquette Method NFP Instructor, and a member at St. Michael the Archangel parish.

The Spring Campaign has kicked off and will run through Palm Sunday - March 29!

This spring, the Archdiocese invites EVERY parish, school, ministry, and individual to participate in the 40 Days for Life campaign — a peaceful, prayerful effort to protect human life through prayer, fasting, and public witness.

In past campaigns within our Archdiocese, 14 parishes, 3 Catholic high schools, and even a local college committed to a day of prayer. What a powerful witness of unity across our local Church!

This year, we are hoping to see even more parishes and schools participate!

 Individuals and families are invited to sign up for an hour — whether on their parish’s day or another day during the campaign.

We are excited to share an important opportunity here at Insight Women’s Center. We have an opening for a Fatherhood Coordinator, a part time position, to help lead and support our growing Fatherhood Initiative.

God is doing incredible work among the men who walk through our doors. We currently have 10 dedicated volunteer fatherhood coaches who meet individually with dads and facilitate group classes. We are looking for someone with a heart for discipleship, strong leadership skills, and a passion to see fathers learn how to love and lead their families well.

If you have a part time pastor, ministry leader, or someone on your team who might be a great fit for this role, please pass along the attached job description and encourage them to reach out. I would love to visit and answer any questions they might have.

Bring AFTERMATH to Your Community

Across Kansas, many people remain unaware of the true scale of abortion in our state. That’s why Kansans for Life launched AFTERMATH, a powerful traveling memorial designed to educate, engage, and inspire meaningful conversations.

The exhibit features thousands of medically accurate fetal models, representing the number of lives lost to abortion in Kansas in a single year. Displayed respectfully and thoughtfully, AFTERMATH creates a visual experience that encourages reflection and dialogue while also connecting visitors to resources.
