The 2026 Chrism Mass for the Archdiocese of Kansas City in Kansas is on March 31

KANSAS CITY, KANSAS — The Archdiocese of Kansas City in Kansas joyfully announces that the Chrism Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, March 31, at 12:00 PM at Corpus Christi Catholic Parish in Lawrence, Kansas.

The Chrism Mass is one of the most significant liturgies of the year for any Catholic diocese. During this solemn celebration, Archbishop Shawn McKnight will consecrate the Sacred Chrism and bless the holy oils used throughout the coming year in the sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation, Holy Orders, and the Anointing of the Sick. It is also a moment when priests of the archdiocese gather to renew their priestly promises, expressing unity with their bishop and with the entire Church.

Another special part of the Chrism Mass is to take a moment to celebrate the priests who are marking milestone anniversaries. A sincere congratulations to the following priests:

50 Years:     Fr. Duane Reinert, OFM  Cap.

40 Years:     Very Rev. John Toepfer, OFM Cap.

Fr. Kevin Cullen, SJ (Marillac Retreat & Spirituality Center, Leavenworth)

25 years:     Rev. Mohan Bathineni, Rev. Gary Pennings

The Chrism Mass provides the faithful a powerful opportunity to enter more deeply into Holy Week and to witness the beauty of the Church’s sacramental life.

The Archdiocese of Kansas City in Kansas warmly invites the community to join via livestream at https://www.youtube.com/@corpuschristilawrenceks/streams. All are encouraged to participate prayerfully from home, schools, or parish communities.
