Archbishop McKnight Accepts Resignation of Superintendent of Catholic Schools

KANSAS CITY, KS. – Archbishop Shawn McKnight has accepted the resignation of Dr. Vince Cascone, Superintendent of Catholic Schools for the Archdiocese of Kansas City in Kansas, effective June 1, 2026. In addition to serving as Superintendent, Dr. Cascone is Division Secretary for the Offices of Catholic Schools, Marriage and Family Life, and Children’s Catechesis.
“I am grateful to Dr. Cascone for his faithful service to our Archdiocese over the past seven years,” said Archbishop McKnight. “Under his leadership, important initiatives were advanced, including the transition to a Catholic-focused accreditation process, the establishment of the Commission on Education, and expanded support for schools in enrollment management and marketing. These efforts have strengthened our schools and their mission.”
Dr. Cascone will continue to serve in his full capacity through June 1, 2026, providing stability and continuity during this transition.
To assist in the search for the next Superintendent, Archbishop McKnight has engaged Partners in Mission, a national Catholic education consulting firm dedicated to helping Catholic schools and institutions strengthen their mission and plan strategically for the future.
Opportunities for input from clergy, school leaders, and the local faith community will be announced in the coming weeks.
Archbishop McKnight requests your prayers for Dr. Cascone and his family as he concludes his service, and for the Holy Spirit’s guidance in the search for our next Superintendent.
