Kansas Bishops Announce the Resignation of the Executive Director of the Kansas Catholic Conference

KANSAS CITY, KANSAS — The Diocesan Bishops of the Roman Catholic Church in Kansas have accepted the resignation of Chuck Weber, the Executive Director of the Kansas Catholic Conference. Mr. Weber will conclude his service as executive director on May 31, 2026.

Mr. Weber was appointed as the executive director of the Kansas Catholic Conference in July 2018. We thank him for his work for the past eight years, as he has led the public policy efforts on behalf of the Catholic Bishops of Kansas.

The Bishops will initiate a public national search for the next executive director of the Kansas Catholic Conference, with a goal of announcing a successor in the coming months. The Bishops and other key stakeholders will lead this effort.  The full job description is available here.

“The ideal candidate will be a faithful and forward-thinking leader with a strong grounding in Catholic social teaching and the prudence to engage effectively in the public square,” said Archbishop Shawn McKnight, Archbishop of Kansas City in Kansas. “As the voice of the bishops of Kansas on public policy matters, the Kansas Catholic Conference serves as a resource to all four of our state’s dioceses, supporting the formation of laity and clergy while providing a clear Catholic perspective on public policy. The work requires sound judgment and the ability to build strong relationships with legislators and community partners in advancing the common good.”

In this role, the Executive Director will provide a Catholic perspective on proposed legislation, advancing the common good by upholding human dignity, the sanctity of life from conception to natural death, and religious freedom, and supporting the well-being of families and communities.

The Kansas Catholic Conference will continue its important work during the transition. Additional details regarding the search for Mr. Weber’s successor will be shared in the weeks ahead.
