Parish Penance Services
Jesus is waiting for you
We all carry things that weigh us down — mistakes, regrets, things we wish we could undo. The good news? You’re not alone, and God’s mercy is greater than our failures.
This Lent, churches throughout the Archdiocese of Kansas City in Kansas will be open for confession each Wednesday.
With immeasurable love Jesus endured the cross to offer us this amazing gift of healing and reconciliation. If you long for peace, thirst for grace or are burdened by past mistakes and regrets,
Jesus is waiting for you. It’s time to come home.
Making your Confession
- Pray and make an examination of conscience. Click here for a listing of examins and answer the questions to yourself. Make note of your sins.
- After entering the confessional – Together, you and the priest will make the Sign of the Cross. You may then begin your confession with these or similar words: “Bless me, Father, for I have sinned. It has been [give days, months, or years] since my last confession.”
- Confess all your sins to the priest. When finished you say “For these sins, I am truly sorry.” The Priest will then say a few words.
- He will then ask you to Pray the Act of Contrition prayer out loud.
- Do the penance the Priest gives you.
[Jesus] said to them again, “Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, so I send you.”
