Project Andrew for Young Men in High School:

An Invitation from Jesus Christ to “Follow Me”

Jesus Christ is calling you to follow Him.  It’s a fact.  The question which remains is – What does this look like for you?  What is it about a relationship with Jesus Christ that holds the power to transform a boy into a man – a man willing to lay down his life for his friends – as a spiritual father and priest?  Join Archbishop Joseph Naumann, Vocation Director Fr. Dan Morris, one of our seminarians, and area priests as together we unpack those two simple but life-giving words of Jesus: “Follow me” (Matthew 4:19).

Project Andrew will include a witness talk from an area high school senior, and how he has gone about discerning his vocation these past 4 years.  Next you will hear from a seminarian, and how his time in seminary has helped to inform his discernment, as well as form him into the man God is calling him to be.  Third, you will hear insights and highlights from a day in the life of one of our newly ordained priests.  Last but not least, our own good shepherd and successor of the Apostles, Archbishop Naumann, will share his wisdom while leading us in a time of Eucharistic Adoration, after which there will be some time for Q & A.

Parents are welcome and strongly encouraged to attend, as the parents of one of our seminarians will speak about this calling and what it has been like to journey with their son from their perspective.

NEW to Project Andrew this year, is an invitation to journey with the Vocation Director and area priests – just like Andrew, Simon, James and John did with Jesus. They didn’t settle for one encounter with Christ, and neither should you.  This high school group will meet regularly at Good Shepherd parish in Shawnee.  There will be formation, prayer, conversation, brotherhood, growing in virtue, and discernment using books like Pray, Decide, and Don’t Worry and To Save a Thousand Souls, as well as video series like The Chosen and Into the Breach.  The goal is to grow in your relationship with Jesus Christ in a way that will prepare you to say “yes” to the vocation God is calling you to, whatever that may be.

Project Andrew is Sunday, October 3 from 1 to 4 pm, at Church of the Ascension in Overland Park, or attend October 10 at Christ the King in Topeka.  Come and see how your next few years can be more fulfilling, rather than risk getting lost in the culture and temptations of the day.  This is an invitation every young man should consider and take seriously.

There is no charge.  Register above, or email vocation@archkck.org or call 913-647-0303.
