What is included in a PSR programmed retreat?
- Your programmed retreat will provide your group with a fully developed and facilitated retreat experience, focusing on one-of-four unique areas of the faith. We will handle the schedule, the talks, activities, and breakout groups.
- Costs that are not included in the retreat price include food service, which your Missionary Host will work with you to come up with the best option for your group, as well as chaperone costs for overnight lodging. Otherwise, there are no extra charges for the activities or spaces that are used during your retreat.
What spaces and areas of the property will be used during our retreat?
- As a retreat group, your group’s meeting space will be exclusively your own. Our Retreat Team will also coordinate the use of other buildings and activities to achieve the purpose of your retreat. This means that during your time here no other group will be using your same lodge or dormitory.
- During your group's free time you are invited to take advantage of our nearly 300 acres of natural beauty by exploring our trails, woods, and plains. The first Gospel is that of Creation, so dive in and experience the Lord outdoors. We do ask guests to avoid crossing fencelines or opening gates.
How does payment work for our retreat?
- To secure your booking a non-refundable, non-transferable deposit equal to 50% of the anticipated total cost is due within two weeks of requesting the booking dates.
- The final payment for the retreat is due two weeks following the retreat, in order to give groups more flexibility, as we understand that retreatant numbers change frequently and we want to make group leaders' jobs easier.
What is your cancelation policy?
- We understand that plans change and retreat ministry is no exception. The following cancelation policy is meant to offer you a clear understanding of our expectations.
- Event deposits are due within fourteen days of the Booking Contract being sent to the Sponsoring Group. Payment of all other fees is due within fourteen days of the final invoice being sent/given to the Sponsoring Group.
- Canceling a booking results in the loss of the deposit and a charge for any PSR-incurred expenses such as catering.
What is the process for booking a retreat?
- Check out our planning process below for full details, but know also, that you can complete the Book Your Retreat form or call our team at 785-746-5693 for more information.
- Once we’ve received your request to book with us, we will gather initial details for the retreat and send you a contract. Once we have received back the signed contract and deposit, your booking will be secured.
- In the month leading up to your retreat, you will receive three calls to work through all the final details and answer any questions you may have.
- Our team will be praying with and for your group every day.
Will Mass and/or Reconciliation be available?
- As your retreat approaches we highly recommend working with your parish priest(s) to coordinate times for them to offer the Mass and/or Reconciliation. Once we know your priest’s schedule we can build the retreat schedule around any sacraments.
- Please note that Reconciliation while on retreat is a beautiful and healing opportunity, and is often best when multiple confessors are available to allow the reception of this sacrament.
How will we ensure that all minors are safe?
- The safety and care of every guest that passes through our gates is of the utmost importance. In a special way, we want to ensure that every young person that this is a safe place for them to dive deeper into their relationship with God and others. To that end, we ask all groups to
- Provide training for all chaperones on protecting children and avoiding 1-on-1 interactions between adults and minors.
- All chaperones for Archdiocesan retreats must be VIRTUS trained.
- Supervision and behavior response are the responsibility of the group chaperones and leadership, and so we ask all chaperones to remain actively engaged during the retreat.
- We require a 1:8 chaperone-to-minor ratio, and for overnight retreats, this ratio must be maintained at 1:8 by gender as well.
Additional Tips & Free Advice
- We advise all groups to bring a first-aid kit as well as a method for handling, storing, and dispensing medications for any minors who are not with a parent or guardian.
- We ask groups to bring all completed Liability Waivers for the retreatants.
- For your retreatants, here are some key packing list items to include beyond clothing:
- Bedding for twin-sized mattresses (Logos Dorm has a few full-sized mattresses)
- Towels and toiletries
- Close-toed shoes are required for most PSR-facilitated activities
