A Bitter Pill:

About half of all Kansas abortions are performed are girls/women from Missouri.

Abortion is currently illegal in Missouri, but Missouri is not safe from the abortion industry.

In 2019, an activist state court radically changed the Kansas Constitution, making it impossible to regulate abortion in even the simplest of ways. This ruling cleared the path for nearly unlimited abortion in Kansas.

Planned Parenthood has announced they will be putting a new clinic in Kansas City, Kansas; providing easy access for Missouri residents.

Kansas has already seen the largest increase in the number of abortions in over 25 years, with the majority performed on out-of-state residents.

While Value Them Both will not stop all abortions, it affirms that Kansans still want to be able to protect babies and women by placing limits on the abortion industry.

The Kansas constitution is not restored - to the way it was before an activist state court paved the way for a nearly unlimited abortion industry in Kansas.
  • States with rulings like this have lost almost all their prolife laws. Even Alaska now has taxpayer funded abortion without parental consent requirements.
  • 20+ bipartisan prolife laws that protect women rights from the abortion industry every day in Kansas are now endangered:
    • The Woman’s Right to Know - Defends informed patient consent
    • Parental Consent - Ensures middle school girls are not left at clinics for abortions by complete strangers
    • Clinic Licensing - Provides oversight of basic safety and sanitation standards
  • Kansas will likely become a destination for late-term abortion - Placing an estimated 15 more babies at risk every day.
These stats are from well before the Supreme Court Dobbs decision. How high will they go now?
  • The number of Missouri residents obtaining an abortion in Kansas was already for pushed up to an annual total of 3,201.

The Light Shines

The Value Them Both Amendment passed both the House and the Senate and will appear on the ballot in August 2, 2022. Voting “Yes” for Value Them Both:

  • Will restore our Constitution to the way it was before a 2019 court ruling cleared the path for nearly unlimited abortion in Kansas.
  • Will protect existing commonsense restrictions on the abortion industry.
  • Safeguard Kansans’ ability to have:
    • Parental notification requirements for minor girls
    • Clinic inspection, safety & sanitation standards
