The Archdiocese of Kansas City in Kansas Spanish curriculum will introduce basic Spanish to children in order to be the “hands of God” in everyday encounters. Since language and communication are at the heart of the human experience, speaking and listening will be the primary focus as well as cultural awareness. Based on individual language knowledge, vocabulary and grammar we will also incorporate basic skills of reading and writing in Spanish.
Due to the unique structure, schedules, and resources of each school, the level of proficiency attained will vary. The Spanish curriculum was developed to foster cultural awareness and ignite a desire to learn Spanish. This curriculum is designed to start at Level A and progress sequentially at a rate that matches the structure, schedules, and resources of each school.
